Registered training organisations
If you are a registered training organisation, Skilling Solutions Queensland may refer customers to you to undertake fast track recognition of prior learning (RPL) or flexible skills gap training.
To be eligible to apply for a contract with Skilling Solutions Queensland, training organisations must be registered as a preferred supplier of recognition of prior learning with the Department of Education and Training.
The preferred supplier status application is based on 5 criteria contained within the RPL Preferred Supplier Framework. These criteria focus primarily on:
- industry involvement
- candidate information and support
- RPL assessment process
- gap-training options
- decision making processes for reporting.
Meeting of all criteria and subsequent acceptance onto the preferred supplier list will only be for selected qualifications at the Certificate III Level and above and not for a training organisation's entire scope of registration.
Although the Skilling Solutions Queensland contracts have been finalised for the 2010/11 fiscal year, there may be limited contract opportunities for additional training organisations, based on Queensland Government priorities and regional coverage.
RPL Assessment resources for registered training organisations
A number of resources have been produced by the Department of Education and Training to promote and develop quality recognition of prior learning services.
Skills First RPL Assessor Kits
The Skills First RPL Assessor kits provide a framework for RPL assessors to develop their own kits.
RPL Assessor Resources
A number of additional resources have been developed for RPL Assessors including an RPL Assessor guide and video, a Children's services training resource and gap training self assessment guide.
Contract holders for recognition of prior learning
Registered training organisations with a Skilling Solutions Queensland RPL contract will be provided with either a $500 or $1000 subsidy, depending on the qualification, for Skilling Solutions Queensland customers referred for recognition of prior of learning.
Credit transfer
Credit transfer is the granting of status or credit by an institution or training organisation to students for modules (subjects) or units of competency completed at the same, or through another, institution or training organisation. The Skilling Solutions Queensland contract does not apply to credit transfer.
National recognition
Previously referred to as mutual recognition, national recognition is a feature of the Australian Quality Training Framework that allows qualifications and statements of attainment issued by any registered training organisation to be accepted and recognised by all other registered training organisations. The Skilling Solutions Queensland contract does not apply to national recognition.
Become involved in flexible skills gap training
On successfully completing the recognition of prior learning process, an individual customer may need to undertake one or a number of competencies to complete the qualification they require. Registered training organisations have the opportunity to enrol these customers into training to fill the gap in the qualification they require.
