Skilling Solutions Queensland wins gold at Trans-Tasman Awards

The Queensland Government's training and career information service Skilling Solutions Queensland has won a Gold award for customer service at the trans-Tasman 2009 International Customer Service Awards.

The award was presented to the service in the category of Medium Business - Division or Unit.

The awards recognise service excellence among Australian and New Zealand enterprises across all industries, states and sectors.

This is yet another achievement for Skilling Solutions Queensland which was the recipient of an Australian Service Excellence award in 2007 and won two Australian Business Awards for service excellence and innovation in 2008.

Skilling Solutions Queensland's win puts the service in the company of major national and international companies including Jetstar, Australian Unity, Bupa Australia, Crown and MBF who also took out awards.

The award reflects the service's commitment to exceptional, individualised customer service.

Skilling Solutions Queensland offers information on training and career opportunities from 16 customer service centres across Queensland.

The service helps customers identify their work skills and aligns those skills with a relevant formal qualification.

Eligible customers can be referred on to a network of training organisations for formal 'recognition of prior learning' which may lead to a partial or full nationally recognised qualification.

A formal qualification indicating current skill levels can add value to a resume for those seeking a career change, promotion or employment.

Skilling Solutions Queensland is also playing a key role in meeting the Queensland Government's Toward Q2 target of three out of four Queenslanders holding a trade, training or tertiary qualification by 2020.

Since the service opened in 2005 more than 65,000 Queenslanders have been interviewed by Skilling Solutions Queensland with some 12,000 enrolling in recognition of prior learning and over half obtaining a formal qualification.

The annual International Customer Service Awards are organised by the International Customer Service Professionals to allow Australian and New Zealand service providers to recognise their service champions and teams.
